Sustainable Group, a newsprung office product
company, has produced three ring binders - available in 1", 2" and
3" - from 35-38 percent post-consumer recycled material. A sturdy,
solid piece of corrugated cardboard, the binders are the same
as regular binders, sans the synthetic vinyl cover. To Brad Hole, president of Sustainable Group, the value lies not just in the complete recycability of the product, but with the consumer's ability to install replacement covers with the simple turn of a screw. Sustainable
Group also uses Goodwill's Back-to-Work program for assembly.
Hole said the company is in talks with area colleges and
major office supply stores for further distribution. The company
also plans to introduce new products and explore the use of
soy-based inks biodegradable waterproofing sprays for the
REBINDERS.
